Abstract:

This article presents preliminary reflections of an initial PhD research, which analyses focus strategies in Russian and Brazilian Portuguese, considering the Usage-Based Models framework. The main purpose here is to identify strategies of both languages for encoding focus in linguistic structure. The question explored is that these structures may be considered constructions, that is, form-meaning pairings, in the terms established by Goldberg (1995).
