Abstract:

The article examines such characteristics of Old English binomial phrases as the number of their components, the presence of the determiner and the elimination of components on the material of ‘The Consolations of Philosophy’ by Boethius and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. All quantitative data are compared and conceptualized as indicators of the functional characteristics of the studied texts.
