Abstract:
The article looks at the work of the Moscow Slavic Committee as the one of the most active participants of the Slavic movement in Russia in the early 20th century. The author examines the practical involvement of the Moscow Slavic Committee in collecting donations and sending them to Serbia during World War I (1914-1916). The collected data suggest that the aid was timely provided and met the most urgent needs of Serbians, affected by the hostilities of the war. After 1916, charitable activities of the Moscow Slavic Committee gradually turned into political activism which caused a crisis inside the Committee and the following decline of humanitarian aid.
