Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of the tonal component in the prosodic structure of modal-emotional connotation of “irony” in the German language, determines integral and differential characteristics of the prosodic structure in the ironic utterance, and specifies the pitch range and its relations with emotional subjective attitude of the speaker to the content of the utterance.
