KEY MOTIVES AND INFANT IMAGERY IN “EMMA” AND “EMMA BROWN”, ARTISTIC RECONSTRUCTIONS OF CHARLOTTE BRONTË’S NOVEL

Author’s name:

Natalia Vygovskaya

Abstract:

The article considers key principles of artistic reconstruction based on “Emma” and “Emma Brown,” two versions of Charlotte Brontë’s unfinished manuscript developed and completed by C. Savery and C. Boylan. Working within the theory of intertextuality and exploiting creative innovations of postmodern aesthetics, the contemporary writers recreate key motives of Brontë’s novels and reconstruct the infant imagery of the classic Victorian prose, projecting it into modern reality.
