Abstract:
The article looks at the peculiarities of the peripheral subtype of quantifiers – collective or group nouns, that in most cases prove to be occasionalisms, created for the purpose of expressing indefinite quantity. The author also defines the status of collective nouns in the structure of the category of quantifiers and analyzes their etymology.
