Abstract:
The article describes the precedent phenomenon in language as a universal phenomenon that manifests itself at different levels of language: lexical, grammatical, word-formation, and stylistics, reflecting the results of a study performed within the framework of cognitive linguistics, and, in particular, the theory of precedence, in the Russian and German languages.
