Abstract:
The article offers a classification of crisis situations and conducts a multi-parameter content analysis of English and Russian texts, which reported such situations in high-quality press. The author looks at how crises of various types are depicted in the English and Russian printed media discourse and concludes that the choice of specific methods of presenting information depends on a newspaper’s goals and the country’s proximity to the epicenter of reported events. The presented results can be used in further research of the crisis discourse as well as for developing better approaches to crisis management, and outlining strategies for influencing public consciousness in a crisis.
