Abstract:
The article looks at interpretations of the notion “property” in different fields of study, giving particular attention to its use in linguistics. It examines definitions of “property” in philosophy and logic and provides an overview of how the notion is principally used in linguistics. Systematization of the available data and expertise enables the author to determine the essential characteristics of the notion “property” for linguistics and to suggest its comprehensive definition.
