Abstract:
The article deals with the Balzac tradition in the works of French writer Andrei’ Makine. It provides a brief introduction to the author and his novels, published under his real name as well as under the pseudonym Gabriel Osmonde, and investigates possible reasons for using the so-called “returning character” in the writer’s fiction.
