Abstract:
The article examines connotations of English zoonyms and use of zoonyms for figurative and emotional representation of speech objects in casual or occasional usage. The typology proposed by the author is based on the conceptual content of specific zoonyms and allows for setting limits to the conceptual space of zoonyms in their secondary function.
