Abstract:
The article looks at the development of assessment processes for evaluating foreign language competences of students, enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Economics, through the lens of “the quality management system” and “process approach.” It demonstrates the necessity of assessment throughout the process of learning a foreign language, not just for evaluating its final results, and offers a list of basic processes for assessing the success in mastering foreign language competences. The authors suggest that monitoring of the learning process enables teachers to identify the reasons of students’ low academic performance as well as to develop and to implement a number of pedagogical measures which significantly increase the probability of students’ meeting the requirements of the existing educational standards.
