Abstract:
The article examines the semantic peculiarities of the lexeme “passion” in the novella The Kreutzer Sonata by Leo Tolstoy and concludes that the lexical unit “passion” creates a wide range of implicit meanings, typical for Tolstoy’s thought of the late 1880s.
