Abstract:
The article presents a comprehensive study of the frame organization of military discourse in the digital communication environment, based on material from the TASS Telegram channel. The research is conducted within the cognitive-discursive paradigm and aims to develop the theoretical and methodological foundations for frame analysis of military information in modern media. The theoretical significance of the work lies in advancing the methodology of cognitive linguistics through the integration of the frame approach with discourse analysis. For the first time, a holistic model for studying military discourse in Telegram channels is proposed, revealing the cognitive mechanisms that construct military reality in digital space. The research methodology is based on an integrated approach that includes discourse analysis, cognitive modeling, content analysis, and interpretive techniques. The empirical base consists of over 500 military-themed messages from the TASS Telegram channel for the period January–June 2025.
The main results of the study include: (1) the development of a theoretical model for frame analysis of military discourse; (2) the identification of a system of basic discursive frames — “Special military operation,” “Heroism / Military duty,” “Protection of civilians,” and “International support / Isolation”; (3) the determination of cognitive-discursive mechanisms of frame activation at the lexical-semantic, pragmatic, and emotional-cognitive levels; and (4) a characterization of the specifics of military discourse in Telegram channels through the lens of multimedia, interactivity, and fragmented information delivery. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of an original methodology for analyzing military discourse that accounts for the specificities of digital communication platforms. For the first time, a comprehensive approach to studying the frame organization of military information in Telegram channels is presented from the standpoint of cognitive linguistics. The practical significance of the work is determined by the applicability of the developed methodology to information-analytical activities, strategic communications, and expert evaluation of media content. The results of the study can be used in teaching cognitive linguistics, discourse theory, and media communications.
Prospects for further research include conducting a comparative analysis of military discourse across different digital platforms, studying the dynamics of frames as the information context evolves, and developing methods for the automated analysis of large text corpora. The study contributes to the development of military discourse theory by demonstrating the productivity of the frame approach for understanding the mechanisms by which information is shaped and disseminated in the contemporary digital media space.
