Abstract:
The article explores the possibility of expressing comparative semantics through grammatical cases of Russian nouns. It analyzes the comparative potential of five noun cases in their prepositional and unlimited forms, using Russian literary texts of the 19th and 20th centuries, and concludes that case forms of nouns are actively involved in expressing comparative semantics in statements of various types as well as in combinations with other nouns or verbs. This allows us to conclude that using grammatical cases of Russian nouns for comparison purposes is a regular and widespread practice.
