Abstract:

The article deals with the issues of implementing content and language integrated learning (CLIL) in the process of forming professional foreign language communicative competence of students majoring in International Relations. Modern undergraduate students face many challenges, both academic and professional, and they may choose to meet these challenges through enrolling in full-time training or, just as successfully, through distance learning. The study considers various scaffolding strategies widely used within the CLIL methodology and analyzes their use in the process of foreign language teaching in combination with modern digital technologies. It is emphasized that the use of scaffolding technologies has a positive impact on the development of students’ cognitive activity, which definitely helps to achieve the main goal of modern higher education, namely: to train highly qualified professionals who are ready to think outside the box and strive for continuous self-development.
