Abstract:
The article discusses the organizing role of such temporal intonation means as pausation between syntagmas as well as speech tempo and average syllable duration in formation of a coherent text. On the basis of a phonetic experiment, the author seeks to compare pauses between syntagmas and speech tempo in isolated utterances with the same parameters in text phrases, making an inventory of temporal phonetic units which serve to construct the integrity of a text.
