Abstract:
The article presents a comparative analysis of the development of the philosophical traditions in the United States and Russia in 17th and 18th centuries, with a special emphasis on social and socio-cultural processes of the time. It identifies key sources of influence on philosophical thought in both countries, including convergence of Orthodox religious thinking and Western philosophy in Russia, and the impact of Puritanism and attempts to create a national philosophical tradition for moral and legal purposes in America.
