Abstract:
The article focuses on some aspects of the notions monolingualism, bilingualism, and polylingualism within the paradigms of psychology, linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociology, and social linguistics. It looks at various types of bilingualism, seen as a particular case of polylingualism, and makes a number of practical conclusions about the type of bilingualism / polylingualism, that is shaped by university-level foreign language programs.
