Abstract:
This paper aims to give an idea of the situation of German as a foreign language in Italy. It begins with a brief outline of the historical and educational context in which German language teaching has developed in Italy. This is accompanied by some reflections on the methods of teaching German in Italian educational institutions and on research concerning the teaching of German. It concludes with a current overview of where German can be studied and how many students take advantage of these opportunities.
