Abstract:

The article discusses typical features of English postmodern prose as it examines the genre of the novel “Metroland” by J. Barnes. The author analyzes infant imagery as a modern modification of the classic infant imagery of the era of realism and identifies the main components of the poetics of the novel, including its character, plot, composition, and psychology.
