Abstract:
The article demonstrates that descriptive units with euphemistic functions are used in political discourse in order to achieve particular pragmatic goals that vary with specific communicative situations. The author also presents a pragmatic analysis of specific euphemisms, that portray recent political issues, events, and circumstances in milder or veiled ways.
