Abstract:

The relevance of the research is determined by the increasing interest towards the functioning of political discourse and its intertextual intentions. The diversity of the modern political media discourse calls for a great variety of figurative, affective, and persuasive means of conveying information. Since proverbs remain one of the most popular linguistic means of influencing potential audiences, this study focuses on stylistic functions of proverbs from the point of view of effective media communication.
