Abstract:
The article looks at stylistic patterns of German football commentary, based on the examples from the games recorded during the 2012 UEFA European Championship. It identifies the structure of the commentary, its main functions and stylistic devices, classifies the most frequently used stylistic devices, and describes the correlation between the stylistic choices and the emotional intensity of specific situations.
