Abstract:

The article discusses potential opportunities and resources of massive open online courses (MOOCs) in teaching foreign languages to extension students. Efficient development of students‟ foreign language competency is impossible without their autonomous work between on-campus study sessions. Electronic technologies of MOOCs provide authentic video materials aimed at improving listening skills while online forums for discussions among students or between students and a teacher foster the development of writing communication skills.
