Abstract:

The article discusses the problem of semantic transformations of the original text of Pushkin‟s Prophet in Chinese translations. The basic concept of the poem („prophet‟ – „пророк‟) is viewed as an individual aesthetic variant of the Russian concept „prophet‟ – „пророк,‟ rooted in the Orthodox Christian tradition. The article analyzes the system of typical changes in lexis and grammar observed in two reputable Chinese translations, as compared to the original text. Comparing the texts of these translations with the original through the perspective of comparative conceptology, the author explores systematic differences between them not only on the level of languages, but also on the level of cultures.
