Abstract:
The article focuses on several aspects of how Hermann Sudermann’s narrative and drama works are perceived in the Ukrainian culture, including translations (M. Zagirnya, B. Girchenko, O. Makovei), theatrical performances (in Russian and Ukrainian, in N. Solovtsov’s theater in Kyiv), performances of touring theater companies, and publications of Sudermann’s selected works and introductory articles to them. The article also cites Sudermann’s words about Ukrainians.
