Abstract:
The article looks at the critical reception of Pearl Buck’s fiction by Chinese scholars providing a brief survey of key articles and critical essays analyzing Buck’s literary output at various cultural and historical stages of China’s development, with a special emphasis on the difference in perception of such important aspects of Buck’s fiction as multiculturalism, the East-West interaction, feminism, and identity.
