Abstract:
This article explores the role of textual activity in the development of functional literacy (FL) among high school students. Functional literacy is defined as a set of skills essential for effective engagement in various spheres of human life, encompassing not only the ability to read and comprehend texts but also the capacity to interact with information through perception, analysis, interpretation, and the articulation of informed decisions. Textual activity serves as a pivotal medium for cultivating these competencies. The study emphasizes working with texts at structural-semantic and content-meaning levels, highlighting the importance of rapid information extraction and processing. The process of developing FL through textual activity is presented as a deliberate endeavor within a methodological framework that integrates both theoretical and practical components. The article proposes specific methods and techniques of textual activity that contribute to the formation of FL skills, underscoring their significance for the practical implementation of the aforementioned methodological system. Furthermore, it elucidates the interconnection between FL competencies and various forms of textual activity.
