Abstract:
The article addresses the issue of integrating moral education into the teaching of a foreign language at the primary school level. The relevance of this topic stems from the social need to cultivate a well-rounded modern individual: an active citizen, a patriot, and an innovator with a high level of spiritual and moral development. Incorporating moral education into foreign language instruction at the primary level offers a unique opportunity to shape a holistic worldview, foster empathy, and nurture a value-based appreciation of cultural and social diversity. This approach aligns with the principles of humane pedagogy, which emphasize the development of the individual in harmony with the surrounding world. Learning a foreign language provides access to a wide array of cultural and historical contexts, contributing significantly to students’ spiritual and moral development. The object of this study is the implementation of the educational function of foreign language teaching in elementary school, while the subject of the research is the didactic conditions necessary for promoting moral education in this process. The purpose of the article is to elucidate the essence and content of moral education within the context of foreign language learning, taking into account the developmental characteristics of primary school students, and to identify effective didactic strategies for achieving moral education objectives at this stage. The article also presents a recommended pedagogical strategy for moral education in foreign language instruction, outlining the primary goals, methods, and forms of organizing moral development within the classroom. This strategy is based on several key principles: a comprehensive approach addressing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects; the integration of imaginative, logical, and practical teaching methods; the creation of a morally supportive learning environment; and the promotion of student autonomy in pursuing moral development goals.
