Abstract:
The article analyzes two different concepts of education represented in the children‟s novel Skellig by the British author David Almond: the traditional school system vs. home schooling and self-development. Empirical education and poetic knowledge that the young protagonists get to experience are embodied in the figures of Charles Darwin and William Blake. These references form the allusive layer of the text.
