Abstract:
The article discusses silence as a non-verbal component of expressing apology within the framework of the communicative-pragmatic approach. The authors identify the main functional characteristics of silence, consider its strategic aspects, and describe the correlation of cooperative / conflict-inducing types of silence with goals and attitudes of communicants.
