Abstract:
The article analyzes the concept of interethnic communication, defines the place of interethnic communication in translation and interpretation, and discusses indications of a interpreter’s preparedness for interethnic communication on the basis of personality-oriented and competence-based approaches. The author then identifies key components of the “interethnic competence” which forms the foundation of such preparedness, and provides parameters for its assessment. Revealed the contents of interethnic competence that characterizes this readiness, defined by the estimated parameters.
