Abstract:
The article presents a comparative description of two modern neographic publications produced in Russia and China, namely: New Words and Meanings. A Reference Dictionary of Media Materials and Fiction of the 1990s and A Large Dictionary of New Words and Expressions of the Chinese Language in the Last Hundred Years. Both editions utilize a diachronic approach: they reflect modern developments in the language, record new words and phrases, and focus on specific time periods. The author provides a detailed analysis of the macro- and microstructure of these dictionaries, compares the principles of their initial conception and word selection, and evaluates dictionaries of this type from a historical perspective.
