Author’s name:

Oxana Bejenari

Abstract:

The article discusses teaching Italian students the rhythm, stress, and intonation of the Russian language. After many years of teaching Russian as a foreign language, the author identifies and systematizes students’ most frequent mistakes related to the interference of their native (Italian) language. The article describes Russian prosodic features for language teaching purposes and draws relevant conclusions in terms of learning Russian as a foreign language. It also substantiates the need for a methodological study of the phonetic phenomena that affect the perception and understanding of the meaning of speech (rhythm, intonation, etc.) in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language, and proposes a system of exercises tested in practice, describing effective techniques for working on these aspects. In conclusion, it gives examples of A1- A2 level educational materials, based on relevant lexical minimums.
